Title: Electronic rust prevention

Has anyone on here used, fitted an electronic rust prevention, inhibitor system.
Units like "Coupler Tech" etc, these would seem to be very popular with the surf clubs in Ausi and with 4wd guys both here in NZ and across the ditch.

I was just curious, because we know there is NO such thing as a rust free Beddy and if I go and cut out all the obvious rust there is still a whole lotta van that is untreated, unprotected, un galvanised etc.

So im thinking that I may fit one of these electronic anti rust gadgets, as they have been proven to not only prevent new rust, but also to halt the spread and the growth of existing rust.
Some of the spin off's from using these units, are that other components require less maintenence, such as mag wheels, which retain there shine longer and dont oxidise, brake components dont corrode and dont attract as much contaminants.
Brake drums dont sieze and lock on to wheel studs and axle hubs and these are just some of the advantages.

So as I said who is using one ? what are you doing or have you done to prevent future rust in your Beddy ??

hey bro ive considered it..

actually i wanted to have a van in bare metal for a while.. i rang up those blokes and they said you need paint for it to work.... hmmm..

you can have the van in baremetal Ben, but where the coupling pad is stuck on to the body, there must be a coat of paint at that point between the steel and the pad.

This is because it works using a method called "capacitive coupling" this is the same technoligy thats employed by those car cell phone antennas ya stick on your windscreen.

So yeah you could use it like that on an unpainted van, but it will be working overtime fighting the elements.

Metal is hydroscopic and porus so if left bare it will attract and absorb moisture, so even with a coupler tech you will get some surface oxidation over time i would think.
