Well I went and picked up my beddy today, the 186 is a sweet sounding motor and the trans is nice and tight, it has a falcon diff head and a nice set of reasonably clean Trident mags.
The engine, trans and diff are all certified.
It drives and runs real nice, although it does need a wheel balance.
Anyway it has a reasonable amount of rust but for some reason most of it is in the bottom of the door frame's where they meet the floor.
So I have lots of welding and patching to do.
It did come with a replacment drivers door, which is good because the one on there now has been modified at speed.
Interestingly enough aside from the rust the actual panals are all really straight.
If anyone in Ak has a body they are chopping up, I need a RF guard and a drivers side floor section.
will post some pics when i get a chance.
Cheers

guards and floors are usually rusty, and if you take the guard off you'll find more rust. Repairing them is often faster and tidier
Will keep my eyes/ears open though, mk 1 or 2?

Mk2 Thanks buddy, yeah im thinking welding in some patches will be quicker too.
Thanks

Rusty, did my floor and under sub frame as well, I did have the guards off as mine was a Mk1 to start with. not an easy job to do. Best to repair on the van, you can cut the hole larger on the inside panel below the dash to get to the inner guard to repair.

I was looking at it again today and the guard is nice and straight, the worst rust in it, is beside the top, front corner of the door where the guard meets the windscreen valance panal,
So I think il just cut that section out and weld in some clean steel, I have lots to do and it will be both fun and a challange.
Good excuse to go buy me a new mig too lol.
Im in auckland for a few days, cant wait to get back up north to Kerikeri and rip into it.
What part of Auckland are you in, would be cool to try and catch some of the local boys while im down here.
